Data we process
ZelNum processes information needed to provide verification products, account access, support, billing, and security monitoring. This may include account profile details, login activity, uploaded phone or email lists, API requests, verification outputs, support messages, and payment references.
Customers are responsible for uploading only data they are authorized to use. ZelNum is designed for business data quality, fraud review, compliance support, and list hygiene workflows.
The exact fields each product returns, where those signals originate (telecom HLR/carrier signaling and licensed upstream providers — no platform scraping, no account logins), and how the GDPR controller/processor roles divide between you and ZelNum are set out on the Data & Compliance page.
How we use data
We use data to operate the service, process verification jobs, return exports, maintain account balances, troubleshoot issues, improve platform reliability, prevent abuse, and communicate about service-related matters.
We do not use uploaded verification files to send marketing messages to the contacts contained in those files.
What a lookup does not do
Verification requests are processed to return the registration signal you asked for, and for nothing else. Three limits apply to every product.
- No outbound contact. The service cannot send a message, place a call, or otherwise reach the person behind an identifier. It returns a status and stops there.
- No access to account content. Nothing inside a WhatsApp, Telegram, or other messaging or social account is opened, read, or copied. A result states only whether the identifier appears to be registered on the platform you selected.
- Not for outreach. Submitted identifiers are not used to build campaign lists or send promotional content. The service is intended for data-quality work such as CRM cleanup, list hygiene, and fraud or risk review.
Anyone submitting identifiers for processing must be entitled to do so and must hold any consent required by law. Full details of permitted and prohibited uses are in the Terms of Service.
Uploaded files and verification results
Uploaded CSV or TXT files are processed to generate the requested validation, carrier, messaging app, social account, or exchange account signals. Result files may include status fields, confidence signals, timestamps, carrier or platform indicators, and export segments.
Customers should avoid uploading unnecessary fields. Use the minimum data needed for the verification workflow, restrict dashboard access to authorized team members, and delete exports when they are no longer needed.
Lookup data retention and deletion
This section applies specifically to the phone numbers, email addresses, and other identifiers you submit for verification, and to the results we return for them.
- We do not build a permanent record of the numbers you check. Lookup data exists so that you can read and re-download your own results. It is not used to build a people-search database.
- Lookup data is kept only for a limited window, then deleted automatically. Results stay in your account for a short retention period so you can export them, and the system removes them automatically once that period ends. We do not keep them indefinitely.
- We do not cache your lookups for reuse. A result is returned to your account only. It is not cached and served to other customers, not published, and not resold.
- We never sell or rent lookup data. Your uploaded lists, the identifiers in them, and the results we return are not sold, rented, or traded to third parties for their own use.
- You can ask us to delete lookup records earlier. Send a deletion request through the Contact page and we will remove the lookup records associated with your account once the request is confirmed.
Account, billing, and support records are retained on a different schedule, described under Retention and security below.
Retention and security
Retention depends on the type of data. Lookup data (the numbers you submit and the results we return) is kept only for the short window described in Lookup data retention and deletion, and is then deleted automatically.
Account, billing, and support records are retained for as long as needed to operate the service, provide support, maintain audit records, resolve disputes, meet legal and tax obligations, and protect against abuse. Those records do not extend the retention of your verification inputs and results beyond the lookup window.
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect account and verification data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so customers should also protect account credentials and manage user access carefully.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and role, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete certain personal information. Account owners can request help through support when dashboard controls are not enough.
You can ask us to delete the lookup records associated with your account at any time by sending a request through the Contact page; we remove those records once the request is confirmed. You can also stop using the service and close your account.
We do not sell or rent personal data. If you are uploading data about other people or businesses, make sure you have the notices, permissions, contracts, and lawful basis your workflow requires. The Terms of Service set out the consent you must hold before submitting a number.
